Chilli pepper: Bishop’s Crown

R40.00 incl VAT

This variety is from Peak Week Pods. JC Terblanche says: ‘This is our favourite pepper, hands down! The weirdly-shaped pepper turns from green to red and the fruit has a spicy but also fruity flavour that suits any dish that you don’t want to ruin by making it too hot. Add this chilli to pasta, curries, stews, stir fries or just about every dish where you normally add mild heat chilli. They make awesome pickles too. The plants grow very large and this leads to massive amounts of fruit. They will keep on producing until the winter sets in and the plant will drop its leaves with lots of green peppers still on the branches. They produce for up to 6 years if you can protect them from the harsh cold. Perfect for pots too. Scoville units range from 5 000 to 30 000 shu. It is hard to beat this variety for its manageable heat, productiveness and also for being so interesting to look at.’
