Seedling plug mystery box

Description

We’re all for sowing one’s own seed (we sell seed too, after all) but often you don’t have space in your garden or hydroponics system for 500 cabbages and 20 artichokes … or you don’t want the responsibility (yes, as plant parents we all feel this at some stage) for seedlings that you’ve propagated from seed. And even if you do start your own seedlings, there are times when you’re caught between sowings and want something quick and easy to fill a gap. Or more. So, how about a pack of seasonal seedling plugs that we’ll courier to your door, ready to simply pop into your prepared beds?

What will you receive in your box of seedlings? It depends on the season. We always include something salady, because who doesn’t love a good homegrown summer or winter leafy salad right? And then we add in things like cabbage and cauliflower in autumn, and tomato and basil in summer. It’s a mystery box, after all!  Perhaps you’ll find something that you’ve not grown before, or thought you could grow but haven’t tried …

Disclaimer: We send our seedling plugs with plenty of love and good wishes. That’s not to say we can guarantee that they’ll arrive safely your side. Why? While we send them off carefully packaged, with some extra seedling mix to keep their roots comfy en route, we can’t know how the courier will handle the box. We think, though, that even if the carton is handled roughly, our plugs have had a good enough start to enable them to tough it out once they see the light, so to speak. Their roots are well developed and that’s what counts. We time our dispatches so that they aren’t stuck in depots over weekends. All you need to do is make sure your beds are ready to receive them and you have water on hand.
