Rocket/arugula

R30.00 incl VAT

This variety is from Kirchhoffs:

Originating in the Mediterranean region, rocket is used widely in cooking and salads. Makes a great companion for beans, dill, lettuce, mint, nasturtium and thyme. A very easy crop to grow. As weather gets hotter flavour strengthens. Sow direct into garden or container.

Young leaves are very tender and are best eaten fresh, in salads or on sandwiches. Older leaves are spicier and can be added to stir-fries, egg dishes or soups. They should be added toward the end of cooking. If allowed to go to maturity flowers can be tossed on top of salads or soups, sprinkled on sandwiches, even added to drinks. As with all edible flowers, use sparingly until you know how they affect you, especially if you have plant allergies.
