This variety is from Peak Week Pods. JC Terblanche says: ‘What a privilege to grow and make these beans available to more people. There is a rich story behind them and it’s a true miracle to still have them around today. They were brought from Tennessee by the Cherokee people as they were marched to Oklahoma by the federal government in 1839 over the infamous “Trail of Tears” that left so many dead and suffering. Each time they would set up camp during this forced removal, they would plant their crops and just as the plants were growing they would be moved again, meaning that they lost precious seeds that they saved for many generations. We have never met a bean so prolific, a workhorse of a variety producing bumper crops like nothing we have grown before. Green pods can be used for fresh eating and the dry beans are black and can be used in any recipe that requires black beans. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.’
