Tomato: Thorburn’s Terracotta
R40.00 incl VAT
This variety is from Peak Week Pods. JC Terblanche says: ‘This is one of the best tomato varieties on offer. Thorburn’s Terracotta is in my Top 5 and is one that I can highly recommend! Introduced in 1893 by James Thorburn of New York, this 130-year-old variety still produces some of the best tomatoes I’ve had and, in my opinion, can compete with any new or old variety in all respects. Each plant produces several medium-large tomatoes at a time and will go on to produce more flushes right to the end of the season. The fruit has a good shelf life and stores well. The toms ripen from a green to a brown/honey/bronze colour when fully mature. The taste is hard to describe but, when the right amount of sweetness and acidity meet, something magical happens and the flavour can only be described as exotic. Delicious fruit, beautiful fruit, lots of it. You can’t go wrong with this variety.’
