Runner bean: Sunset Runner
R35.00 incl VAT
This variety is from Peak Week Pods. JC Terblanche says: ‘This beautiful variety is rather hard to find in South Africa. Runner beans are perennial and will grow out each year. They will thus be some of your first beans in their second year. The attractive salmon-coloured flowers will lure various pollinators into your garden. Though often grown as an ornamental, these beans produce plenty of big pods that are edible when young and tender or they can be left to dry on the plants for a harvest of beautiful large black beans, decorated with purple marks. The dry beans are some of the tastiest beans you’ll ever experience and make some of the best bean soups I’ve had, that is if you can get yourself to eat these beauties. Definitely a good option for a jaw-dropping scene that will draw you and the pollinators into the garden.’
