Lima bean: Dixie butterpea
R30.00 incl VAT
This variety is from Peak Week Pods. JC Terblanche says: ‘Dixie Butterpea is a bush-type lima bean that impresses me each time I grow them. The green pods are inedible, but the beans can be harvested when the pods start to swell and can be used as a shelled bean, or the dried beans can be harvested once the pods have dried out. Dixie beans are round and have a light red-brown seed coat with black speckles. They do take slightly longer to mature than other dry beans, but make up for that when the plants start to flower and set pods for a long period. They are extremely drought tolerant, and ideal for late summer planting for dry beans for winter.’
