Bush bean: Vitumbe

R35.00 incl VAT

This variety is from Peak Week Pods. JC Terblanche says: ‘This a beautifully purple-colored bush bean from Northern Malawi, originally grown by the Tumbuka people. The dual-purpose pods have a fresh nutty flavour and a crisp, succulent bite. The beans are attractive with a navy blue seed coat decorated with cream/tan streaks. The fresh green pods also have purple mottling on them, making them a showstopper in the garden. They are ideal for our South African climate and they produce 12 to 14 pods per plant which is very good for a bush bean. They can be used as a green or dry bean. Green pods are ready to harvest in 60 days and dry beans are ready to harvest in 90 days.’
