Corn: Glass Gem
R30.00 incl VAT
This variety is from Peak Week Pods. JC Terblanche says: ‘Stunning glossy colours! Translucent kernels shine like glass and resemble glass beads on the cob. Glass Gem isn’t a true heirloom variety, but rather a combination of several heirloom corn varieties. This makes it very popular and exciting as you can never determine what combination of colours you will find until you harvest them. They have all the colours of the rainbow and a few more. This feature is also an ideal way of getting children involved in gardening, by having them plant all the different colours and then be amazed at what ‘cool looking’ cobs they get in return. The 8 to 16 cm ears are not only decorative but also edible and delicious as well. Can be used for popping corn and for grinding into flour. The young cobs can also be cooked.’
