This variety is from Peak Week Pods. JC Terblanche says: ‘This is a Chinese heirloom. Topaz (or Huan U) was our first tomato and from what we have experienced, it will probably be the last. The fruit starts off lime green with darker green stripes, then they turn yellow with the lighter green stripes still vaguely visible. From there they turn almost translucent yellow with whiteish streaks, and finally a dark yellow/orange. We enjoy them when they still have slight green streaks as the fruits tend to get softer in the later stages. The fruit matures slightly smaller than a golf ball. Topaz has a fresh clean slightly sweet taste with almost no acidity. We think they are perfect for salads while adding colour too. They are easy to grow, relatively disease resistant, and they are thus reliable bankers in our opinion.’
