Chilli pepper: Buena Mulata

This variety is from Peak Week Pods. JC Terblanche says: ‘This must be one of the most beautiful peppers to grow. It’s very rare and not commonly offered. The plants have dark green leaves, purple nodes, and purple flowers. The peppers start off with very attractive majestic purple pods, that turn a tan brown before it matures to their final red color. They are exceptionally productive and will often need to be picked early as the weight of pods pulls the branches down. The pods themselves have a long skinny twirly shape and have some good heat to them and the more they mature the more potent they become. This is a hot pepper, so don’t be fooled by its friendly colours. It has a sharp instant heat that hits the tip of your tongue immediately. The taste is similar to bell pepper, but with more sweetness especially when they have fully matured, and a nice fire punch of heat!’
